Tata Nano receives over 2.03 lakh bookings

This car will sure go into the books of history for creating sensational news before its arrival and even after its launch. Now the Tata Nano is back in news with the latest update of receiving over 2.03 lakh bookings.

Looks like the Rs. 1 lakh car has received paid bookings that amounts to approximately Rs.2,500 crores. Talking about the hysteria in connection with the car, the car’s official site recorded 3 crore hits from the date of launch of the car to the closure of the booking period (25th April, 2009).


A whopping 6.10 lakh forms were bought from the booking centres. Out of these large numbers, only the first 100,000 allottees will be chosen, which will be via a computerized random selection procedure. This particular announcement will be made within 60 days of closure of the booking.

Whereas the deliveries of the car is expected to start in July 2009 and it is predicted that it will be completed in the last quarter of 2010. The company also plans on announcing the list of those booking applicants who intend to retain their bookings with the company in spite of them not forming a part of the first 1 lakh allottees. These allotees will get an added advantage, where they will receive an interest on their booking amount, effective from that date.
